Alan Simon is a Diploma of Commerce lecturer at Taylors College in Claremont where he teaches Principles of Management and Effective Communication. He retired from UWA’s School of Business in April 2017. There he taught Management and Organisations, Strategic Capabilities and Organisational Success, Managing Organisational Change (previously Organisational Development) and Business Research Methods.
He had previously been employed as an Associate Professor in the Department of Management at Monash University and headed one of the institution's Business Schools. Simultaneously he ran his own successful management consulting practice – AMS Customer & Staff Care. During his 13 years at Monash, he also worked for the P&S Management Group mainly conducting customer and staff satisfaction surveys for many of their clients as part of their Quality Certification programmes.
Primarily, he conducts boutique customer and staff satisfaction surveys or delivers short courses on measuring customer satisfaction properly, managing organisational change and strategic and dynamic capabilities and organisational success for businesses, professional firms and government departments in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Botswana, Mauritius, and South Africa.
He is the author of 8 Introductory Management textbooks published by John Wiley & Sons as well as more than 80 other publications, nearly half of them in international refereed journals.
